Jamie O’Hara has urged Tottenham to sack Ange Postecoglou and replace him with Brentford manager Thomas Frank.
The Lilywhites have won just one of their last seven matches in all competitions leading to severe pressure on the former Celtic manager.
In fact, BetVictor slashed the odds on Postecoglou being sacked after the 4-3 loss to Chelsea on Sunday (8 December) with the 59-year-old falling to 4/1 to lose his job.
Former Spurs midfielder O’Hara revealed his ideal replacement for the Australian in an exclusive interview with Grosvenor Casinos [12 December], saying: “If Ange Postecoglou keeps playing in the same way, then I’m afraid he’ll have to go, I’m sorry but Daniel Levy will have to get rid of him.”
“You can’t go on with that football and style of defending any longer.
“I love Thomas Frank and I’d have him at Spurs every day of the week if Ange left. I think he’d be a great fit as Tottenham’s manager if we could get him out of Brentford. He’s been brilliant there and if Ange does leave – he’d be someone I’d look at.”
Postecoglou on borrowed time at Tottenham?
After a flurry of poor recent results, the Australian finds himself fighting to survive in the dugout for the first time.
He faces a crucial run of matches in which his side play Rangers in the Europa League, Manchester United in the EFL Cup and Southampton, Liverpool and Wolves in the Premier League.
Depending on results in those matches, he could be out of job by the new year if Levy runs out of patience with the frustrating inconsistent performances.
However, Spurs should not be so trigger-happy, the Australian has shown an impressive tactical philosophy but has not been given the tools to fully implement it.
A report from The Athletic [18 November] highlighted the fact that the owners have put just £194 million into Spurs since their takeover in 2001, with £94m being the initial fee to buy the club.
Despite some fans turning on him, the board should stick with their man and back him to succeed in North London.
In other Tottenham news, the club have been urged to sign a Juventus ace by an ex-scout.
