John Wenham expects Wilson Odobert to make his Spurs debut against Everton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday (24 August).

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose believes the French forward will come off the bench against the Toffees.

Odobert was not available for Spurs’ first Premier League match of the season against Leicester City, which ended 1-1 at the King Power Stadium on Monday (19 August).

And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – is keen to see what the 19-year-old can do.

“Odobert is another exciting young player with huge potential,” Wenham said.

“I feel like he is a player who Tottenham think is ready to make an immediate impact at the club. I imagine we will see him off the bench against Everton.

“I’ve seen fans calling for Brennan Johnson to be dropped. However, that would just kill his confidence, especially after a match where I feel he wasn’t much worse than anyone else.

“Therefore, I do expect Johnson to start, but I think Odobert will come on and if he makes a positive impact, then that position could be there for him to establish himself in.”

Wilson Odobert to make his debut for Tottenham against Everton?

Johnson wasn’t at his best against the Foxes. However, considering it was the first match of the season, it would be harsh for Ange Postecoglou to drop him to the bench.

As a result, he is likely to start against the Toffees. However, following the arrival of Odobert, he now has an exciting young talent breathing down his neck, which will put pressure on him to perform.

Every top Premier League squad needs competition for places, and Postecoglou will hope that Odobert can become a viable option on the right-hand side.

And if he is to come off the bench and make an impact against Everton off the back of another underwhelming Johnson display, the Australian might soon have some tough decisions to make.
