Lilywhite Rose predicts Championship loan for Tottenham teen wowing in Nottingham

John Wenham has speculated that Tottenham youngster George Abbott will move to a Championship club on loan next season.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose is delighted by the progress the 19-year-old is making this season.

Abbott is currently playing his football on loan with Notts County in League Two, where he has drawn comparisons to Manchester City star Jack Grealish.

And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – expects the midfielder to jump up two divisions next season.

“It is brilliant to see how well Abbott is doing,” Wenham said.

“He kind of goes under the radar because he is surrounded by players who get all the goals and assists. However, he is a really reliable player and I’m pleased he is doing well in Nottingham.

“He seems to start every game and always tends to play the full 90 minutes. Therefore, for Abbott, it is just about continuing to impress. If he does that, I imagine he will be lined up for a Championship loan next season.”

Ange Postecoglou has a talent on his hands in the form of Abbott.

However, with the number of young players emerging from Hotspur Way at the moment, with a talented trio recently being handed a first-team opportunity, it might be tough for the Australian to find room for Abbott next season.

Therefore, while he is still so young, it makes sense for the Notts County loanee to continue his footballing education in the Championship during the 2025/26 campaign.
