The Friedkin Group’s takeover of Everton is still expected to be completed in December, according to the Liverpool Echo.
The Echo reported that despite still requiring approval from the Premier League independent oversight panel, TFG expect the deal to complete before 2025, meaning they might not miss their target of getting it done before Christmas Day.
It was reported on Friday [13 December] that the takeover has received approval from the Premier League with the deal expected to be finalised next week.
A new era coming to Everton with the Friedkin Group takeover
Blues fans will no doubt be feeling as though this takeover is a saga that has been going on forever, it seems the ending is now in sight which will be a big relief for all at Goodison Park.
While there is no official date, the report from the Liverpool Echo states that the group are hopeful for completion before the end of this month which should be a reassurance that approval from the Premier League’s independent oversight panel is not a big worry.
When the takeover is completed, it will be interesting to see what the priorities will be for the new owners at Goodison. There has been plenty of talk about the future of Sean Dyche at the club with the Toffees this season which could mean the boss could be out of the door straightaway.
However, it is worth remembering that survival in the Premier League is the most important thing this term and therefore, that could mean we see some signings and Dyche taking the Blues until the end of the season which would give the new owners an opportunity to set up a long-term succession plan.
Regardless of what comes next, when this takeover is fully approved there will no doubt be excitement in Merseyside about the future.
