Liverpool prize money after becoming first club to qualify for the UEFA Champions League Round of 16
????????????
Liverpool became the first club to qualify for the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 this season with a 1-0 win over Girona on Wednesday.
Arne Slot has watched his side win all six of their European outings so far this season – while the Reds also sit top of the Premier League with the Dutchman at the helm.

It has been a superb season for Liverpool so far – and while there could be more to come in the way of silverware, their efforts in the UEFA Champions League have ensured a tidy chunk of cash is heading to Anfield ahead of the January transfer window.
Liverpool receive millions after UEFA Champions League heroics
As seen in official documents on the UEFA website, Liverpool have secured themselves a cash prize of €11m (£9.1m) after qualifying for the Round of 16.
Achievement Prize Money (per club) Qualification for the Round of 16 €11m (£9.1m) Qualification for the Quarter-Final €12.5m (£10.3m) Qualification for the Semi-Final €15m (£12.4m) Qualification for the Final €18.5m (£15.3m) Winners €6.5m (£5.4m)
It remains to be seen whether Fenway Sports Group (FSG) allow Slot to have this entire £9.1m sum available to spend on transfers in 2025 – or whether those in the boardroom at Anfield will invest on other things, such as infrastructure behind the scenes.
However, if the 46-year-old is allowed to put it towards new signings, Liverpool have already proven in the past just how far they can stretch a sum like this.
With Michael Edwards as Sporting Director – he is now CEO of Football, working above Sporting Director Richard Hughes – Liverpool previously managed to sign Andrew Robertson for £8m from Hull City, Joe Gomez in a £3.5m move from Charlton, and parted with just £4.3m in compensation to take Harvey Elliott from Fulham.
Therefore, while a sum of £9.1m may not seem like a lot to spend in the modern era, Liverpool have proven they can put it to better use than most clubs.
Who Arne Slot could put £9.1m sum towards signing
If Liverpool are to make any additions in January, we would estimate either a new left-back or a new central midfielder would arrive.
Liverpool remain keen on Martin Zubimendi – the Real Sociedad No.4 who almost joined the Reds last summer – with Slot still in need of quality depth in his central midfield department.
The same problem exists at left-back, with Robertson starting to decline and Kostas Tsimikas struggling to match the required levels when called upon.
TBR Football understand Liverpool admire Milos Kerkez of Bournemouth and Wolves No.3 Rayan Ait-Nouri, so the £9.1m prize money could well be put towards a deal for one of these defenders in January, if not the summer.
