Liverpool could sign Wolves full-back Rayan Ait-Nouri at a cut-price, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed the 23-year-old has been on Liverpool’s target list “for a while.”
The Reds have been monitoring the left-back since Jurgen Klopp’s final season at Anfield, with the Premier League giants seeing him as a potential long-term option.
Ait-Nouri is Premier League-proven and would take no time to adapt after making 107 appearances in the English top flight throughout his career.
The Algeria international is keen on a move away from Wolves but would like to remain in the Premier League and play at the highest level possible.
Well-placed sources have told Football Insider that Wolves wouldn’t be able to keep hold of him, which is why they might accept a smaller fee for his services.
Liverpool see Rayan Ait-Nouri as a possible Andy Robertson replacement
Arne Slot is currently not fully convinced by his left-back options, with the feeling being that he wants to bring in a younger player.
The new Liverpool boss has been rotating between Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas this season, as Slot has given both men the chance to nail down the position.
However, Slot might look to freshen up his left-back option completely by signing Ait-Nouri as his long-term option.
The Wolves defender has proven his ability both defensively and offensively this season, scoring three goals and providing two assists in his nine Premier League appearances.
Slot also faces problems at right back due to Trent Alexander-Arnold’s uncertain future at the club.
