Simon Jordan has slammed John Textor for his suggesting taking over Everton would be the same as becoming president of the United Stated.
Textor made the comparison in an interview with Sky Sports [12 September] as he continues to negotiate a deal with Farhad Moshiri to purchase the club.
Jordan discussed the 58-year-old’s comments alongside co-host Jim White live on talkSPORT [12 September] and dismissed the notion entirely.
He said: “The notion that he talks about Everton in a way that he does, comparing it to the presidency of the United States, I think is a load old tosh.”
John Textor’s comments a positive sign for Everton
While the comparison is farcical, there is no doubt that Textor is genuinely excited at the prospect of gaining ownership of Everton.
After the collapsed talks with 777 Partners and the Friedkin Group, the Blues look set to be in good hands for the future with Textor moving forward to relieve Moshiri of his duties at Goodison Park.
The club replied to Textor with an official statement that delayed the start of Sean Dyche’s pre-match press conference ahead of the game against Aston Villa on Saturday [14 September] and confirmed that talks are progressing over a potential takeover.
Moshiri has been desperate to release himself from the shackles at Goodison Park and the feeling is mutual among the Everton faithful. His financial mismanagement has set the club back years under his stewardship.
With the Blues on the back of a run consisting of three consecutive Premier League defeats at the start of the season, the supporters need some good news to come their way after a disastrous run leaves the side at the foot of the league table.
The fans have been here before, although the prospective deal with Textor shows positive signs of progression compared to the previous failed attempts, and his track record at Crystal Palace shows he knows exactly what he’s doing in the Premier League.
