Manchester United are reportedly monitoring Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez as a potential transfer target as they look set to try a new approach to recruitment.
The Red Devils have endured a nightmare start to the season and recently sacked Erik ten Hag as manager, bringing in Ruben Amorim as his replacement.
It now seems that Man Utd don’t want to make the same mistake with Amorim as they made with Ten Hag, whom they handed too much power and control in the transfer market, according to Football Transfers.
Roy Keane set for SURPRISE new role at Manchester United?!
This means Dan Ashworth should now be given more of a key role in recruitment, and it seems Cherries ace Kerkez is one of the names being considered, according to the report.
Kerkez has largely impressed at Bournemouth and a new left-back makes sense for United as Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia have both had major injury problems in recent times.
Would Milos Kerkez be a risky signing for Manchester United?
Still, some United fans might be a bit concerned that Kerkez isn’t quite good enough to make the step up to playing for a big six club.
The Hungary international is still young and has time to learn and improve, but his WhoScored stats this season aren’t that spectacular, especially considering Bournemouth as a whole have performed very well.
Kerkez only has two assists from left-back and an average rating of 6.66 in the Premier League, while WhoScored’s data also describes the 21-year-old as having no particular strengths.
His weaknesses, however, include passing and holding onto the ball, so overall this looks like it could be quite a risky signing for MUFC.
At the same time, it’s probably good for the club to move away from giving managers too much of a say over signings, as it will undoubtedly be tricky for Amorim to come in and have to work with a number of players who were picked to fit Ten Hag’s style of play and tactical plans.
