Manchester United have launched a ‘forceful’ move to sign Euro 2024 winner Dani Olmo ahead of Barcelona, Manchester City and Chelsea.

Olmo, 26, was one of the stars of the recent Euros, playing in six of Spain’s seven games as Luis de la Fuente’s side won the tournament and clinched a record fourth European Championship title.

The RB Leipzig player has attracted interest from some of the biggest clubs in Europe, with Barcelona, Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Bayern Munich all linked with summer moves.

Manchester United have also expressed interest in signing Olmo and Spanish outlet AS claim they have now made a ‘forceful’ move to secure his signature.

The Red Devils have already signed Dutch forward Joshua Zirkzee and French defender Leny Yoro this summer but want to strengthen Erik ten Hag’s squad further ahead of the new season.

United’s biggest competition for Olmo may come from Barcelona but the Spanish giants are prioritising a deal for the midfielder’s Spain team-mate Nico Williams, who scored in the Euro 2024 final win over England.

Olmo has a release clause worth €60m (£52m) but that can only be activated before July 20.

The highly-rated star has made 148 appearances for RB Leipzig since signing from Dinamo Zagreb in 2020, helping the German club win two domestic trophies.

Olmo addressed the speculation over his future towards the end of Euro 2024 and warned potential suitors they will face a ‘fight’ to sign him unless they meet his release clause.

‘My people know what I want to do… I have too much to do with the Euros to be thinking about other things,’ he said ahead of the final in Berlin.

‘I have a contract with Leipzig and we have a very good relationship. There will be no problem.

‘My 60 million clause until July 20? You know what you have to do. If not, you’ll have to fight a little later.’

Manchester United confirmed a deal for Lille defender Yoro earlier this week, having made Zirkzee their first signing of the summer.

‘Signing for a club with the stature and ambition of Manchester United so early in my career is an incredible honour,’ said Yoro, who was linked with Real Madrid, PSG and Liverpool before moving to Old Trafford.

‘Since my first conversations with the club, they set out a clear plan for how I can develop in Manchester as part of this exciting project, and showed a lot of care for me and my family.

‘I know about the history of young players at Manchester United and feel it can be the perfect place to reach my potential and achieve my ambitions, together with my new team-mates. I cannot wait to get started.’
