Man Utd star Amad Diallo clarifies his biological mother has not died
Diallo shared the heartbreaking news on Friday evening.
Manchester United star Amad Diallo has shared the sad news of the death of a close relative who was ‘a mother’ to the footballer.
The 22-year-old shared a photo of the woman holding two young children in her arms on Friday evening.
‘Rest in peace Mum, may Allah forgive you,’ Diallo wrote alongside the picture.
The United forward later explained the woman in question is not his biological mother but still someone very close to his heart.
‘Guys I wanted to clarify,’ Diallo wrote on X. ‘She is not my biological mother, she is my brother’s mother and my sister, was also my mother. May she rest in peace.’
Following the news, Diallo was inundated with condolences and messages of support from fans on social media.
Diallo started United’s first game of the new Premier League season against Fulham last week and was expected to be in the squad for Saturday’s meeting with Brighton.
There are high hopes this season for the Ivory Coast international who originally joined United from Italian side Atalanta in 2019.
After an excellent loan campaign with Sunderland during the 2022-23 Championship campaign, he returned to Manchester last season, scoring an unforgettable last-gasp winner against Liverpool in the FA Cup.
Diallo featured prominently for Erik ten Hag during United’s pre-season preparations, also starting in the Community Shield against Manchester City.
