The Arne Slot era got underway at Liverpool this weekend, and it’s fair to say the Dutchman got off to a great start.
Liverpool beat Ipswich 2-0 on Saturday, but the Reds could’ve won by so many more on the day as they created chance after chance.
This was quite a routine win for Liverpool, but Slot did make headlines with his decision to substitute Jarrell Quansah at half-time.
Speaking on Off The Ball, Mark Lawrenson has been discussing the new Liverpool manager, and he says that the rumour coming from the Liverpool dressing room is that while Slot is a nice guy who gets on well with his players, he’s also not afraid to make big decisions and ruffle a few feathers.
What Mark Lawrenson has heard about Arne Slot
The pundit shared what he’s been hearing about the Liverpool gaffer.
“I mean, the rumour and the talk from the dressing room is that he’s very good. He very much talks to everybody about everything. He’s a nice fella, but they reckon he has something about him where he won’t be frightened to make major decisions.”
Arne Slot is taking no prisoners
It would be easy for a young manager like Arne Slot to be overawed by the Liverpool job.
Indeed, the Dutchman is stepping into the role of a lifetime, and, with all due respect, he’s managing players who are bigger names than himself.
However, the word coming out of Liverpool is that Slot isn’t afraid to make big decisions if he has to, and he’s already starting to stamp his authority as he showed with his substitution of Quansah at the weekend.
Slot is the type of manager who is going to take no prisoners in this new job, and we may see some surprising big decisions made at Liverpool this season.
Slot is going to make this team his own, by hook or by crook.
