Martin Keown reacts as controversial Tottenham footage goes viral

Martin Keown has shared his verdict on Tottenham after footage of Ange Postecoglou confronting supporters went viral recently.

The Spurs boss was caught in an altercation with the away end at the Vitality Stadium on Thursday [5 December] as frustrations boiled over following the 1-0 loss against Bournemouth.

However, Keown believes Postecoglou’s response “shows he cares” as he reacted to the footage on BBC Sport Football Focus [7 December, 2:43 pm] but mooted further issues in North London as the boss’ future continues to come under question.

He said: “He shows he cares, as we say, Man City have lost there, Arsenal have lost there. It’s a tricky place to go now, but I think they’ve lost six games already this season, Spurs, so there’s an issue there.”

Ange Postecoglou needs to find consistency at Tottenham

Postecoglou has been told he now has a “long way back” to regain the supporters’ faith as the atmosphere at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium reaches an all-time low.

No matter what the Australian does or yet doesn’t do; he cannot find a way to string together a consistent run of results in North London despite boasting one of the most talented squads in the Premier League.

The 4-0 win against Manchester City at the Etihad looked like a turning point, but Spurs followed up with a 1-1 draw against Fulham and a loss against Bournemouth.

In keeping with the current trend at Tottenham, the upcoming clash against Chelsea on Sunday [8 December] may result in three points for Postecoglou, and all will be well again in North London.

However, the Spurs boss is paying the price for his reluctance to stray away from his preferred style of play, and even his team selection choices have come under scrutiny.

Postecoglou has proven he has what it takes to go toe-to-toe with the Premier League elite and come out on top, but winning the big clashes does not matter when dropping points against inferior opposition.

Another loss against Chelsea and the alarm bells will start ringing in North London – Postecoglou is facing the most challenging period in his Tottenham tenure.
