Rangers may have stunned Nice to race into a 3-0 lead by half-time in the Europa League but Nedim Bajrami’s performance infuriated supporters.
The Albanian was repeatedly criticised by Ally McCoist live on the TNT Sports commentary on 28 November, and fans were in agreement.
The deadline day signing was again operating on the flank and drew the Gers record scorer’s ire for his “unbelievable” and “unacceptable” lack of a challenge on the loose ball ahead of a chaotic early sequence which saw the Light Blues survive three separate VAR checks for a penalty.
Bajrami started heading in the opposite direction, much like Jefte did against Motherwell in the 2-1 win in the League Cup semi final on 3 November, allowing the Nice full-back to fly past him and shoot.
The Rangers midfielder again infuriated McCoist, and plenty of fans, when the visitors broke through three on one in the 11th minute, only for Bajrami to dally on the ball and then play a poor pass to Hamza Igamane who was tackled, instead of Vaclav Cerny who was free.
Coupled with further instances of Nice runners being left free by a failure to track back fans joked the summer signing was one further mistake from risking physical harm from McCoist.
Nedim Bajrami has nightmare in stunning Rangers performance
Dreadful Nice defending and some superb Light Blues finishing saw Cerny, Mohamed Diomande and Igamane put the away side in command by the break.
A second from the young Moroccan striker ensured Rangers took a sparkling win and eased some sack pressure on Philippe Clement.
But one of the Belgian’s key signings was anything but praised, as the club were accused of draining the confidence from Bajrami, who was branded “really poor” and unable to play out wide.
His issues were relieved after the break as Nice’s spirit appeared entirely broken, but on an excellent night for the club the 25-year-old took a hammering on social media.
In other Rangers news, Gers fans won’t believe it as genuine good news arrives at Ibrox finally.
