West Ham United are not having the best of times at the moment, but one player who cannot be blamed is Jarrod Bowen.
Bowen is one of the best players for West Ham. The 27-year-old has been on the books of the Hammers since 2020 and has established himself as a key figure in the team.
The former Hull City ace has scored three goals and given two assists in 11 Premier League matches so far this season.
Bowen, who has impressed talkSPORT pundit Troy Deeney, scored 16 goals and provided six assists in 34 Premier League games and scored one goal and gave four assists in seven UEFA Europa League matches last season.
The West Ham star was in action for England against the Republic of Ireland at Wembley Stadium in London on Sunday evening.
The Three Lions won the UEFA Nations League – League B – Group 2 game 5-0.
Bowen, linked with Newcastle United last summer, was among the goalscorers. He found the back of the net in the 76th minute just moments after coming on.
Micah Richards gives verdict on West Ham United star Jarrod Bowen after England goal
Former Manchester City and England international defender Micah Richards was pleased to see Bowen score.
While Richards believes that it will enhance the confidence of the West Ham attacker, the BBC Match of the Day pundit thinks that it is going to be hard for him to start on a regular basis under incoming England head coach Thomas Tuchel.
Richards said about Bowen on The Rest is Football podcast: “He is a player who plays really well for West Ham, week in, week out, Bowen.
“And you just think is he going to lift it to international level? Getting that goal for him will do masses for his confidence going forward.
“But they have so many good players in that position. Madueke, Saka, Palmer. It’s difficult, isn’t it?”
How Jarrod Bowen compares to fellow England attackers
Richards has noted that Bowen will face competition from Noni Madueke, Cole Palmer and Bukayo Saka for a place in the England starting lineup.
So let’s now see how the West Ham star compares to those players. Below are their stats in the Premier League.
PLAYER GOALS ASSISTS Jarrod Bowen (West Ham United) 3 2 Noni Madueke (Chelsea) 4 0 Cole Palmer (Chelsea) 7 5 Bukayo Saka (Arsenal) 3 7
Chelsea star Palmer is clearly ahead of everyone else in the stats, and there is also Saka, who is one of the most consistent players out there.
Bowen is going to find it tough to feature in the England starting lineup, but he is certainly a good option to have in the squad.
