Mohamed Salah named joint-second in Premier League’s greatest imports

Mohamed Salah is only behind Thierry Henry when it comes to the Premier League’s greatest imports, according to West Ham vice-chairman Karren Brady.
The Liverpool icon is now eighth on the all-time top scorers list in the Premier League, scoring 170 times in the top flight.
There are actually two foreign players who have scored more goals than Salah in the Premier League, but Brady feels only one has been a better performer in the top flight.
That is Arsenal legend Henry, while she reckons Manchester United heroes Cristiano Ronaldo and Eric Cantona are alongside Salah.
The other man to score more than the Egyptian, Sergio Aguero, doesn’t get a look in.
‘How does he rank among our greatest football imports?’ Brady mused in The Sun. ‘Unhesitatingly, I’d place Thierry Henry of France and Arsenal first, but Salah joins Cristiano Ronaldo and Eric Cantona as a contender for second.
‘Why he has never been placed higher than fifth in the Ballon d’Or is a surprise.
‘As an out-and-out winger in England only Man United’s Ryan Giggs rates near him.
‘Since he moved here, joining Chelsea from Basel in 2014, he’s scored 170 Premier League goals with 77 assists.’
Arsenal hero Paul Merson was naming his best Premier League player ever earlier this year and he picked a foreign player for the top spot who went unmentioned by Brady.
‘I’ve gone for Thierry Henry as No 2. You could easily make a case for him to be number one, in my opinion. Easily,’ Merson said on the Football’s Greatest podcast.
‘He is the only player I’ve ever seen in the Premier League look like a 20-year-old playing in an Under 12s league.
‘[But as No 1] I’ve gone for a player who is the best player I’ve ever played with by a million miles. I didn’t think a professional footballer could be that good. [It’s] Dennis Bergkamp.
‘He was unbelievable. I had a good brain, I could see things on a football pitch. I had good vision. But I’d never seen anything like him.
‘He had eyes in the back of his head. He was as cool as ice. You ask anyone who played with him… all the forwards wanted to played with him.
‘You talk to Thierry Henry… he’d say Dennis Bergkamp. Ian Wright [would say] Dennis Bergkamp.
‘If you made a run, he would find you. He just had everything.’
