More PL clubs want Calvert-Lewin as Everton could be forced into imminent decision - report

Everton could be forced into an imminent decision over the future of Dominic Calvert-Lewin who is now wanted by more Premier League clubs, according to Football Transfers.

The outlet reported via their website on 21 June that Brentford and West Ham have now both expressed an interest in signing the striker, who currently has just a year left on his Toffees deal.

His contract situation means the club face choosing soon whether to let the 27-year-old leave this summer or risk losing him for nothing.

The latter is seen as a “major concern” for a club in their financial situation, so with the Hammers needing a striker to upgrade on Michail Antonio and Brentford likely requiring a replacement for Ivan Toney any offers must reportedly be “carefully” considered at Goodison Park, although they will require a “substantial” bid to agree a deal.

Newcastle are also believed to be interested in signing Calvert-Lewin [Telegraph, 23 May], who scored eight goals in all competitions last season.

Newcastle and West Ham also want Everton star

Losing his top striker is unlikely to be on Sean Dyche’s wish list this summer but if the England international doesn’t sign the new contract after talks were opened [BBC Sport, 30 May] it might be out of the manager’s hands.

The Toffees are said to be after Chelsea’s Armando Broja [Sky Sports, 11 June] in a move that is thought to only be possible if Calvert-Lewin leaves [TBR Football, 1 June], so it suggests the club are aware that an exit might be on the cards.

At his best the Goodison star is a leading Premier League forward and when on form he can make his side look significantly better, but he has suffered extensive injury issues in recent seasons.

Although not his finest campaign last term he was available more often that he had been for some time and scored some important goals as Dyche led the club clear of relegation with games to spare despite two points deductions.

Beto and Youssef Chermiti arrived last summer and while the former showed some positive signs the Toffees have seen very little of the latter.

So Calvert-Lewin would again be expected to be the number one up front entering the new season if he stays, but if he goes the manager will surely want to move for a notable replacement.

In other Everton news, another medical has emerged as the Toffees complete a pair of transfer deals.
