New October date emerges for Everton takeover completion - report

Everton may have to wait up to four months before a takeover for the club is completed, according to The Telegraph.

Tom Morgan’s article [12 June] reveals that several parties are reportedly planning for the scenario that a full takeover with league approval may not go through until October.

The report adds that the club’s outgoings could reach £40million next week alone, including stadium repayments and player and staff wages. Club sources have, however, denied these particular numbers.

Potential parties at Everton table in prolonged takeover process

The primary obstacle at play here appears to be the debt tied up in maintaining the development of the Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium for next year.

The frustration at Everton therefore continues, but Farhad Moshiri is reportedly looking to make a decision quickly following the exclusivity expiry with 777 Partners at the end of May.

Currently, alternatives to 777 include A-Cap, who are inextricably linked with the controversial US firm.

Dan Friedkin remains eager to negotiate with Moshiri, while Andy Bell and George Downing are the preferred party in some quarters with a long-time support of the club.

Everton are looking to extinguish one hurdle at a time as a resolution – they hope – will arrive soon.

On the basis of what we have seen over the best part of a year, though, on top of this latest report, no Everton supporter will be expecting a resolution in the near future.
