Newcastle fans rage at 'disgusting' Man United twist

Newcastle United fans have been stunned after the Premier League gave Man United an “exceptional” allowance to help them avoid a profit and sustainability breach.

Finance expert Stefan Borson was speaking on 6 August as he revealed Man United were given a £40million COVID allowance in 2022, compared to other clubs’ £1million.

“United would have failed PSR in the season just gone, save for two things,” he told talkSPORT.

“It appears they were given an exceptional allowance of £40million for COVID in 2022, which no other club had. The most any other club had was about £1million.”

This meant that the Red Devils were allowed to avoid any possible punishments for PSR breaches, including points deductions which were handed to Everton and Nottingham Forest.

Newcastle, meanwhile, were forced to sell bright young talents Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson on 30 June to avoid their own breaches.

Fans have now been left raging at the Premier League once more, branding them “disgusting” and “corrupt”.

Newcastle found themselves close to the limit of a PSR breach and were forced to sell players as a result, and the same was seen with the likes of Aston Villa, Everton and Forest.

However, it now appears Man United did not have the same worries due to an allowance from the Premier League which no other club was afforded.

A clip of Borson’s interview quickly went viral on social media, leading to outrage amongst supporters who could not believe what had happened.
