'No smoke without fire' - King moots Tottenham takeover in the 'Pipeline' as Levy holds talks

Bryan King has speculated that a Tottenham takeover could be “in the pipeline” after recent investment talks took place.

The ex-Spurs scout believes it would take big money for any interested parties to complete a takeover of Tottenham.

It comes after the Sun on Sunday reported (page 56, 22 September), that Mehrdad Ghodoussi was a VIP guest at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the 1-0 defeat to Arsenal (15 September), with a potential cash injection discussed.

Amanda Staveley, Ghodoussi’s wife and business partner, has put a team together with Middle Eastern cash and other backers to buy a percentage of Tottenham.

And King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes there could be more than meets the eye regarding these talks.

“It would need an awful lot of money to buy the football club,” King said.

“However, there is no smoke without fire. Therefore, I’d imagine if this person was invited as a VIP guest to the North London derby, and money and investment were discussed, there might well be something in the pipeline.”

“The only thing that is going to improve it will be the amount of money they invest. The ground is magnificent, but the team is still not the finished article for me.

“Let’s hope it doesn’t go on like the Everton debacle did.”

Tottenham to be taken over by fresh investors?

Supporters at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium have been unhappy with Levy and ENIC for years now.

Therefore, any talk of a likely takeover is bound to get fans excited. However, a takeover isn’t an instant recipe for success. It has to be handled in the right way.

As a result, supporters will no doubt be keeping a keen eye on any investment news from the club. Should ENIC decide to sell, it remains to be seen exactly what would become of Levy.
