Jeff Winter has criticised Rangers for their performance in their opening-day goalless draw against Hearts.
The Gers failed to score at Tynecastle but still came away with a point in their first Scottish Premiership clash of the season.
Former Premier League referee Winter was left unimpressed by Philippe Clement’s side and took to X on 3 August to share his discontent with what he felt was a distinct lack of goal threat.
He said: “Watched Rangers on TV, then dashed to watch Boro. Last season both my sides lacked goals, seems nothing has changed.”
Rangers start season with goalless draw v Hearts
The Light Blues faithful will have been left rather unimpressed by their side’s performance after beginning the season with just one point.
Rangers weren’t without their chances throughout the game with Cyriel Dessers probably having the best opportunities.
Connor Barron also came close to a debut strike but his effort drifted narrowly wide of Zander Clark’s goal.
This was as good as it got for Clement’s side who were subject to frequent onslaughts from Steven Naismith’s men.
Yann Dhanda, Kenneth Vargas and Lawrence Shankland all had good efforts with Jack Butland needing help from the woodwork at one point.
The lack of attacking potency is of frustration to Winter but also to the rest of the Light Blues faithful who will want to see better from their side in the coming weeks.
Danilo wasn’t afforded a chance off the bench while Vaclav Cerny and Rabbi Matondo failed to have much of an impact when they were introduced.
Moving into the upcoming Champions League qualification clash against Dynamo Kyiv, Rangers must do better in attacking areas.
In other Rangers news, the club’s board may now push to sign a striker that Philippe Clement does not admire.
