Nottingham Forest have just opened talks with Aston Villa over signing their £4m midfielder - Romano

Nottingham Forest are kicking on with their summer business and according to Fabrizio Romano, are now in talks to sign an Aston Villa midfielder.

Forest are one of the teams looking to improve the squad ahead of next season after narrowly avoiding relegation.

The Reds know new players are needed and despite treading carefully along the PSR lines, are looking to do business over the summer.

Manager Nuno Santo will be backed to bring in new players if he feels they can add to the squad.

And according to Fabrizio Romano, Forest have now opened talks with Aston Villa over signing one of their young stars.

Nottingham Forest open talks to sign Aston Villa’s Lamare Bogarde

Taking to X to share the news about Bogarde, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Forest have indeed approached Villa about the midfielder.

And according to Romano, the decision will rest solely with Bogarde, with Villa prepared to sell the youngster.

Who is Lamare Bogarde?

Bogarde is a 20-year-old Dutchman who was bought by Villa as a teenager back in 2020, when he arrived in the Midlands from Feyenoord.

Predominantly a midfielder, Bogarde can also play at centre-half if required and has spent time out on loan with Bristol Rovers while over in England.

Interestingly, Bogarde is the nephew of former Chelsea and Holland defender, Winston Bogarde, who didn’t quite live up to expectations when at Stamford Bridge.

Bogarde is among a number of top young talents currently on the Villa books who the club are open to letting go.

Villa need to bring in money before the end of June to satisfy PSR requirements and they are already looking to sell Omari Kellyman to Chelsea for £19m, while Tim Iroegbunam has also signed for Everton.
