Nottingham Forest are doing everything they can to keep Murillo at the club amid growing interest from Premier League rivals.
This is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that they are extremely reluctant to lose such a key player.
Chelsea have been heavily linked with a move for the 22-year-old, while he has been a long-term target for Liverpool amid uncertainty over Virgil van Dijk’s future.
Football Insider revealed earlier this month that Forest will demand a “huge” fee to entertain talks about his exit after his impressive start to the season.
Murillo has established himself as a vital part of Nuno Espirito Santo’s side and has quickly become a fans’ favourite at the City Ground.
The centre-back has played every minute of Premier League football so far this season and has helped his team rise to seventh in the table with five wins, four draws and three defeats.
Brown went on to explain that a January move would be completely off the cards, but Forest remain determined to keep him beyond the summer as well.

At 22 years old, Murillo fits the profile top clubs are looking for in a centre-back, while his Premier League experience and left-footedness are also viewed as key attributes.
Brown, who has a wealth of experience in player recruitment after spending over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, explained that Forest view the centre-back as a crucial player who they could not afford to lose.
“He’s been incredibly impressive so far this season,” he told Football Insider.
“So, from what I hear, they’re doing everything they can to keep him at the club.
“He’s improved massively since he came to the club and now he’s done well enough to attract interest from the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool.
“But he’s such an important player at Forest and they don’t want to see him leave.
“He fits in with the way they play, and he fits the club too, he’s got the admiration of the fans.
“Sometimes with players like that, you take them out of that sort of environment and they’re not quite the same player – so that may be the case with him.
“Either way, he’s one they want to hang on to regardless of the interest, both in January and the summer.”
In other news, Forest are confident of agreeing a new deal with Ola Aina.
