Former Rivers United captain and striker, Nyima Nwagua, is set to join up with second-tier Saudi Arabian side, Alsadd club, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 31-year-old produced fairly decent numbers for the Pride of Rivers last season, scoring nine goals and providing four assists in 34 NPFL games, helping them to an 8th-place finish, nine points below the qualification spots for Continental football.
Nwagua played a vital role in Rivers United’s successful campaign in the 2021/2022 NPFL season, lifting the league title with four games to spare.
According to an official post by AlSadd’s social media account, it was confirmed that the former Lobi Stars striker will join the Saudi Arabian side for the next year.

Nwagua was received by Mohannad Aldousery, the supervisor of Alsaad Club’s first team at the King Khalid International Airport to help him settle in nicely and to sort out the remaining details of the deal.
With the player heading into the latter years of his football career, a move abroad was not far-fetched and with the financial package involved, it only made sense for Nwagua to move on from the NPFL.
His presence in the team will see him display some leadership in the dressing room, with all of the experience he’s accrued in the NPFL, while showcasing his hard work and physicality on the pitch.
His exit from Rivers United will see Finidi George head into the transfer market to sign up another striker before the new NPFL season begins.
