Ally McCoist doubts Everton will have former manager David Moyes take over from Sean Dyche any time soon.

Dyche’s role has come under fire recently after his side managed to throw away a 2-0 lead against Bournemouth with just three minutes of normal time left in the game.

Although McCoist doesn’t see Moyes taking over as the Toffees manager, he did admit that the Scotsman would be the “obvious choice” for the role should it become available.

Speaking live on talkSPORT (3 September), the former Rangers man shared his verdict on Everton’s managerial situation.

“There’s always people that would go there [Everton] and I don’t care what anyone says, for obvious reasons the obvious choice would be David Moyes,” McCoist said.

“Moyes has done a fantastic job with Everton in the past but at this moment in time, it’s not the most attractive job but to think people wouldn’t take it is completely wrong.

“There would be a list the length of your arm that would take it and certainly one that would fit the bill from Everton’s point of view would without doubt be David Moyes but I don’t see it happening.”

Everton need to give Sean Dyche some more time

Although Everton’s fans might not want to hear it, Dyche needs to be given more time in his role.

The game against Bournemouth was by no means a good one, especially when the result is taken into account.

But, despite the many negatives that the game brought up, there were some positives in the Toffees’ performance.

New arrivals Tim Iroegbunam and Iliman Ndiaye were by far and away the standout players among Dyche’s team at the weekend so, with this in mind, it feels as if the recruitment that the former Burnley manager made throughout the summer could help improve the team’s results in the long-run.

Deadline day arrival Orel Mangala also hasn’t yet featured in Dyche’s squad so there is still plenty of time for things to be turned around.

Only time will tell whether this does happen but one thing is for sure, it feels far too early in the season to be talking about Dyche’s job, especially after the positives that were shown in the Bournemouth clash.

In other Everton news, one commentator didn’t hold back when describing the Toffees players in their 3-2 loss to Bournemouth.
