Philippe Clement has urged the Rangers board to make more high-potential signings as he lavished praise on Hamza Igamane.
The Moroccan striker started the game against Kilmarnock on 4 December along with Danilo and both forwards scored en route to a 6-0 victory at Ibrox.
Clement claims that the club saw potential in Igamane and signed him and wants similar kinds of players to arrive at the club.
As quoted by Rangers Review’s Joshua Barrie, the Belgian said: “We saw the potential and went for it, that’s what the club needs to do. In the last couple of years the club didn’t have assets to sell.”
Rangers have to improve their transfer strategy
While Igamane’s signing is a positive step towards building a squad with high potential, Gers must also consider balancing their recruitment.
Investing in young, high-potential players like the 22-year-old is crucial for long-term development and future marketability, as Clement has highlighted.
However, Gers also need immediate results and stability, which often come from experienced players who can contribute to the starting lineup from the get-go.
These players bring not just skill but also leadership and tactical understanding and can mentor younger talents.
While Clement makes a valid point, he’s got to do better with the players at his disposal and ensure there is consistency.
Hopefully, the club can go on and build on this performance and end the year strongly, perhaps closing the gap on Celtic.
In other Rangers news, a first-team player is in his last season at Ibrox and not in Philippe Clement’s long-term plans.
