'Player remains undecided': Sky Sports journalist shares late night Santiago Gimenez and Nott'm Forest update

Nottingham Forest’s hopes of signing a new striker are hanging by a thread as we head into the final days of the window.

The Reds have backed away from a deal to sign Eddie Nketiah, with Nketiah now believed to be on his way to Crystal Palace instead.

However, Forest fans were not panicked by that move as the club has since made a move for Feyenoord star, Santiago Gimenez.

The impressive striker has been on the radar of a number of teams this summer but it is Forest who looked more likely.

But now, it looks like Gimenez to Forest might have hit the buffers as well.

Santiago Gimenez still not sold on Nottingham Forest move

According to Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas, Forest are still waiting to see if Gimenez fancies the move or not.

There has been suggestions Gimenez is unsure of the move to the City Ground and updating the situation on X tonight, Thomas has backed those claims.

Adding further context to the situation on Sky’s live transfer feed, Thomas has said that Forest are not giving up on Gimenez and will continue to push.

Forest are apparently willing to pay Gimenez a whopping £100,000-a-week to join the club.

Forest might have to walk away

While there’s always a bit of tit for tat in negotiations, Forest do need to be wary they don’t throw all their eggs in one basket here with Gimenez.

If the player is having big doubts over coming, then that does beg the question of why they’re even pushing so hard to sign him in the first place.

Gimenez is clearly a talented player and the idea of Forest getting him signed is one for Reds fans to dream about.

But if he doesn’t want it, then his character is already in question and that, in a relegation battle, could be massive.
