Tottenham manager Ange Postecglou has made a new Ibrox admission after new Europa League developments at Rangers.
Philippe Clement’s side have had to settle for a place in the second tier of European football again this season after they were knocked out of Champions League qualifying by Dynamo Kyiv earlier in August.
The Light Blues will welcome Spurs to Glasgow in one of their fixtures in the new-look group stage and former Celtic boss Postecoglou has joked that he will receive a “warm reception” from the home crowd.
Speaking to Sky Sports Scotland via X (30 August) he said: “It’s exciting, good to be a part of it and some good games.
“I’m sure I’ll get a warm reception at Ibrox, they’ll be looking forward to seeing me.”
When do Rangers play Tottenham at Ibrox in the Europa League?
While Rangers would have certainly been hoping for a slightly easier Europa League draw than they got on Friday, Clement’s side have at least ensured that they will play some massive fixtures between now and the winter break.
Home ties against the likes of Spurs and Lyon will be memorable occasions under the lights at Ibrox while away days against Manchester United at Old Trafford and Olympiacos will be exciting occasions for supporters.
The Light Blues’ main focus will be on closing the gap to Celtic in the Premiership this term, but they still have a genuine chance of booking their place in the knockout stages if they can pick up a few good results in Europe.
Hopefully, redevelopment work at Ibrox will be done and dusted by the time the clash with Spurs rolls around so a packed-out crowd can ‘welcome’ Postecoglou back to Glasgow.
Beating Tottenham would be even sweeter with an ex-Celtic boss in the dugout. It won’t be easy, but who knows what could happen in Europe.
