Postecoglou sack: Odds crash on Tottenham exit after shock news

Ange Postecoglou is now second-favourite to win the Premier League sack race after Tottenham lost to Liverpool on Sunday.

Spurs’ shock 6-3 defeat at home to Arne Slot’s side has led to William Hill slashing the odds of Postecoglou being the next manager sacked in England’s top division.

Before a ball was kicked at the weekend, Postecoglou was 12/1 to be next out of the door but William Hill spokesperson Lee Phelps confirms he’s now priced at 3/1.

West Ham Julen Lopetegui is the current favourite at 6/4 but Phelps warns that could change if Spurs fail to get a result against high-flying Nottingham Forest on 26 December.

He said: “Tottenham endured another calamitous showing on Sunday against Liverpool and it looks as though time may be running out for boss Ange Postecoglou.

“We’ve cut the Aussie all the way into 3/1 from 12/1 to be the next Premier League manager to leave his post – a huge shift in the market – with his future in North London hanging in the balance.

“Julen Lopetegui still leads the sack race at 6/4 but that could all change if things don’t go well for Spurs at Nottingham Forest on Boxing Day.

“Another loss for Manchester City at Aston Villa leaves Pep Guardiola at 6/1, meanwhile, as gloom lingers around the Etihad.”

Who will be the next Tottenham manager?

If the bookmakers’ odds are anything to go by, Graham Potter is the favourite.

The former Chelsea and Brighton manager is the 4/1 favourite with BetVictor.

He’s currently out of work and has been linked with numerous Premier League jobs, so it wouldn’t be a shock to see him be a serious contender to replace Postecoglou should Daniel Levy pull the trigger and dismiss the Aussie.

Postecoglou, however, still seems to retain the majority of the support among the fanbase despite the fact Spurs are 11th in the Premier League with just one league win in their last five.

In other Tottenham news, a big Jose Mourinho claim has been made since the loss to Liverpool.
