Everton can flourish if Dan Friedkin decides to get Andy Bell and George Downing onboard once his takeover goes through, according to Ian Darke.
As reported by Alan Nixon [27 October], Friedkin is eager to bring local knowledge into the boardroom with his consortium once the handover of Farhad Moshiri’s controlling stake is formally acquired.
Toffees fans Bell and Downing initially launched their own interest in purchasing the club, in a bid backed by US multi-billionaire Michael Dell [Alan Myers, 8 June] – which was at the time the preferred buyer for a large section of the support.
“It’s refreshing and quite surprising as well, because usually big groups like that want to do things exactly their way,” TV commentator Darke exclusively told Goodison News.
“I don’t know if it’s a PR olive branch to the fans, but maybe the thinking behind it is ‘why not?’, if [Bell and Downing] want to plough a bit of money in as well.
“It sounds all good from my perspective.”
