'Pushing': Richard Hughes is personally a big fan of £29m Liverpool target who's been 'amazing' at Euro 202

Liverpool fans are eagerly awaiting new signings this summer and with new man Richard Hughes in place, they might have an advantage when it comes to one Euro 2024 star.

The Reds are watching the market carefully and will be looking to make their moves carefully when the time is right.

The Euros, and the fact English clubs are scrambling to control PSR issues, has distorted the market a touch already.

However, Liverpool are known for having their finger on the pulse when it comes to making signings.

Last summer, they landed the likes of Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister quickly and efficiently and according to Fabrizio Romano, they could end up doing similar with Riccardo Calafiori.

The Italian defender is wanted by a number of teams, including Tottenham and Arsenal.

But it is the Reds who could hold the advantage.

Fabrizio Romano shares why Liverpool could sign Riccardo Calafiori quickly

Speaking on his YouTube channel about the situation surrounding Calafiori, Romano has said that new Liverpool supremo, Richard Hughes, is more than aware of the Italian.

‘Riccardo Calafiori my friend as I told you, many clubs are pushing,” Romano said.

“There is is interest from many clubs, I already told you, Liverpool director Richard Hughes, when he was the director of Bournemouth, he watched him many times.

“So they already know the situation of Calafiori and the player so well but still haven’t presented any bid.”

Lauded by Micah Richards for his ‘amazing‘ performances in the Euros so far, Calafiori has suddenly become one of the most in-demand players in the world.

Indeed, Bologna are apparently resigned to losing their man and that has opened the door for English clubs.

Liverpool, then, could end up being tempted to make their move for Calafiori if he continues to make such an impression in the tournament.
