Ranger Exclusive: Big Abdallah Sima update tonight

Rangers want to sign Abdallah Sima on a permanent transfer but may be made to wait until the end of pre-season to do a deal.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the 22-year-old’s future remains up in the air while Brighton continue to decide on their new manager.

Sources say the new boss will be given time to assess his squad in pre-season before any decisions are made on outgoing transfers.

As a result, Rangers have been tipped to look elsewhere in their search to bolster the wide options in Philippe Clement’s squad.

Brighton to delay Abdallah Sima decision amid Rangers interest

Having joined Brighton in a £7million deal from Slavia Prague in 2021, Sima is still yet to make an appearance for the South Coast club, spending three years out on loan.

The Senegalese winger spent last season at Ibrox, where he scored 16 goals in 39 games, quickly establishing himself as a fan-favourite.

However, he suffered a serious injury while at the Africa Cup of Nations, forcing him to miss 13 games before suffering another blow in April which ruled him out for the season.

As reported by Football Insider, fans have questioned his availability and injury record as a result of the blows, suggesting the club should swerve a permanent deal.

Football Insider revealed in April that Sima could be available for as little as £6million this summer, with his deal at Brighton entering its final season.

Clement is looking to strengthen his squad after missing out on the SPFL title and Scottish Cup to Celtic, and a return for Sima remains a possibility despite delays.

In other news, Rangers would be “happy” to accept a £2million bid for Ianis Hagi.
