Rangers have seen a bid accepted by Sevilla to sign Joan Jordan on an initial loan with a buy obligation, according to Fernando Serrano.

The journalist who works for Seville-based news outlet Bombonera Insider reported on 27 July the deal hinges on a green signal from the 30-year-old Spanish midfielder.

It’s also understood to include a buy obligation of £3.38million which will have to be paid next summer.

Via X, Serrano wrote: “Sevilla FC have accepted Rangers’ offer and are awaiting Jordan’s final approval. The loan will include a non-binding purchase option of €4M.”

Rangers make significant progress to sign Joan Jordan

Gers must now touch base with Jordan’s representatives and see what his qualms are over a summer transfer.

Sevilla have already made it clear that they do not want him at the club so it’s a surprise that he’s not yet given the green signal.

He will undoubtedly be an important signing for Gers and would arguably be among the first names on the team sheet.

After the departure of Ryan Jack, the Scottish side do not have that experienced controlling presence in the middle of the park.

By signing Jordan, they will get that and it would give someone like Mohamed Diomande the licence to bomb forward as well.

It would give more control to this side that has been haphazard over the past few months and that could be crucial come the business end of the campaign.

In other Rangers news, a club president has green-signalled the exit of a player as Gers have issued a “significant” bid to sign him.
