Rangers Exclusive: Significant Ianis Hagi update today

Rapid Bucharest are in advanced talks to sign Rangers attacker Ianis Hagi, sources have told Football Insider.

The 25-year-old has been told he can leave Rangers for a “significant” fee this week before the window closes.

One stumbling block is his current salary, which is believed to be well in excess of £20,000-a-week.

Hagi wants any new club to match his Ibrox deal, which could be tricky for him to navigate.

The forward spent last season on loan at Deportivo Alaves and has been deemed surplus to requirements by Philippe Clement.

Hagi hasn’t featured in any of Rangers’ first four games this season, but he is under contract until 2026.

Rapid Bucharest could guarantee Rangers star Ianis Hagi some game time

Hagi hasn’t been provided any playing time under Clement this season, which is why a move away from Ibrox is going to be beneficial for him.

The Romania international struggled for goals last season during his loan spell, scoring just two goals in 28 appearances.

Hagi does boast plenty of experience playing across Europe, having made 257 appearances throughout his career.

Rangers

The Gers are looking to bolster their squad for this season, with Man United midfielder Hannibal Mejbri being a top target.

However, Football Insider revealed that Rangers’ failure to qualify for the Champions League group stage has made that deal more difficult.
