Rangers player medical today, to make debut for new club in Champions League showdown - report

Sam Lammers will undergo his medical with FC Twente on Friday as he finalises a move from Rangers, according to De Telegraaf.

Writing on their website (26 July), Lammers will sign a three-year contract with the Eredivisie side in a deal worth £1.6m rising to £2.5m in bonuses.

FC Twente want the 27-year-old available to make his debut in their Champions League third preliminary round qualifier against RB Salzburg.

Lammers latest to leave Ibrox on Rangers chopping block

Lammers is the second Rangers player undergoing a medical ahead of a move away from the club, following the news that Connor Goldson is in Cyprus finalising his move to Aris Limassol. (Sky Sports, 26 July)

Rangers signed the Dutch striker from Atalanta last summer under Michael Beale, he scored two goals in 31 appearances in all competitions before Phillipe Clement limited his playing time and sent him on loan to FC Utrecht for the second half of the season.

He scored 10 goals and provided three assists in 18 appearances in his native Holland but his performances weren’t enough to earn his place back at the Ibrox.

Clement is overseeing a mass exodus in Glasgow as he prepares to build a new-look side ahead of his first full season at the Gers.

Rangers

The Belgian needs to raise funds from player sales to fund his rebuild and sees no future at the club for Lammers.

It is bizarre for a club not to offer a chance to a player who has proven he can be prolific under the right conditions, but this is not an ordinary summer at the Ibrox.

Jack Butland is the only player Rangers will not consider offers for, with every other player in the side welcome to leave for the right price (Yahoo, 15 July).

On paper the deal suits both parties, Clement needs the money to fund moves for further signings and Lammers has proven more than capable in the Eredivisie.

In other Rangers news, senior Ibrox figures have an “issue” with a move for Lawrence Shankland.
