Nedim Bajrami admits he is “ready” to make his Rangers debut against Dundee United after his “stressful” deadline-day move from Sassuolo.
Philippe Clement’s Gers face Jim Goodwin’s side at Tannadice on Sunday (15 September) as they look to get back to winning ways following their defeat to Celtic and the international break.
Bajrami wasn’t able to play against the Hoops at Parkhead as his paperwork wasn’t completed in time but the Albania international admits it will be down to Clement whether or not he plays on Sunday.
As quoted by The Rangers Review (13 September) he said: “Yeah I am ready but it is up to the coach. I just played two games now with the national team. I am ready.”
Discussing his deadline day move, Bajrami said: “I was at home and I woke up in the morning and my agent said to me we had to be ready to fly to go to London.
“I did everything there, the medical check and I signed. The next day I flew to Glasgow and met the sporting director and coach and went to Ibrox stadium.
“It was very stressful but I was really happy to be here and to join Rangers.”
Will Nedim Bajrami play for Rangers against Dundee United?
Rangers have to pick up all three points at Tannadice this Sunday if they want to keep their ever-decreasing title hopes alive. To do that, Clement simply has to pick the best squad available to him on the day.
In the past, the Belgian has been guilty of taking a bit too long to bed players into the side when they arrive in Glasgow and it has come back to bite the Gers.
That happened as recently as at the start of this season as Robin Propper was left out of multiple matchday squads following his move to FC Twente because Clement wanted him and his family to settle in Scotland first.
While that is important, the time has come for the Gers boss to do everything that he can to pick up all three points every week, even if that means throwing Bajrami into the team after only two training sessions.
Hopefully, the attacking midfielder’s admission that he feels ready will be enough to convince the Gers boss.
