Rasmus Hojlund sends four-word message to Man United fans after development

Man United forward Rasmus Hojlund was delighted with a “Decent Viktoria in Plzen” after their 2-1 comeback Europa League win over the Czech side on Thursday (December 12).

The 21-year-old came off the bench to score a brace and secure a much-needed win for Ruben Amorim’s side after their disappointing 3-2 Premier League defeat to Nottingham Forest.

Former Burnley striker Matej Vydra opened the scoring for Viktoria Plzen just after half-time after Andre Onana’s pass to Matthijs de Ligt was intercepted by one of the three opposition players surrounding the Dutch defender.

Hojlund was in the right place at the right time to bag his first goal, latching onto a deflection from a Plzen defender to slot the ball into an open net.

The youngster scored his second goal following some quick thinking by Bruno Fernandes, who set him up with a clever free-kick routine.

United’s victory moves them into the top eight of the new Europa League phase, meaning they would miss a potentially tricky two-legged play-off if they maintain their spot.

Hojlund has been the best of United’s forwards so far this season, starting 10 of his 17 appearances across all competitions, scoring seven goals, and providing one assist in 920 minutes of action.

Five of Hojlund’s goals have come since Amorim took over, the most from any Man United player under the highly-regarded Portuguese coach.

The striker took to Instagram after the game to celebrate the win, captioning his post, “Decent Viktoria in Plzen” after his impressive performance.

Fellow striker Joshua Zirkzee’s continued troubles in front of goal mean Hojlund has the perfect opportunity to make the number nine spot his own.

Amorim’s side take on Man City in arguably the most important Manchester Derby of Pep Guardiola’s career on Sunday (December 15).
