'Reached an agreement': Fabrizio Romano says Arsenal have struck deal to sign 'unbelievable' PL player overnight
Deadline Day is here!
Transfer deadline day is here, and it looks like Arsenal will be busy.
The Gunners have done some great business already in this window. After turning David Raya’s loan into a permanent deal, they secured the signings of Riccardo Calafiori and Mikel Merino.
That makes Arsenal stronger than they were this time last year, but Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar aren’t done with their business yet.
On Playback, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has shared what the Gunners have done on the night before transfer deadline day.
Arsenal reach agreement to sign Bournemouth captain Neto
Arsenal are on the market for a new goalkeeper on transfer deadline day.
The Gunners have already signed Raya on a permanent deal in this window, and the Spaniard will be the undisputed number one at the club.
But, there is a need for at least one more goalkeeper.
Arsenal star Aaron Ramsdale is all set to sign for Southampton on deadline day, and the Gunners will have to bring in a replacement.
Joan Garcia is the man Arsenal want, but Espanyol are demanding the goalkeeper’s full release clause to be paid for the transfer to go through.
While that hangs in the balance, Arsenal have decided to sort out a deal for an alternative, and they have agreed everything to sign Bournemouth captain Neto.
If they wish to proceed, it will be a straight loan deal for Neto with no option or obligation to buy clause inserted in the contract.
After explaining the complications of the Garcia deal, Romano said: “Arsenal decided to prepare a deal for Neto.
“Arsenal are in an excellent relationship with the agents of Neto, Arsenal are in an excellent relationship with Bournemouth. Bournemouth signed Kepa, and Arsenal reached an agreement with Neto and also reached an agreement with Bournemouth.
“So, the Neto deal is ready for Arsenal. Everything is ready – agreement with the player, loan, no option to buy, no obligation.”
Should Arsenal sign Neto?
It is very clear that Garcia is Arsenal’s first choice to replace Ramsdale, but that deal looks very complicated at this stage of the window.
Paying a lot of money for a backup goalkeeper just doesn’t make sense, especially as the Gunners may need some funds to sign a new attacker late on deadline day.
That’s why Arsenal have turned to the ‘unbelievable‘ Neto, and the Bournemouth captain would be a fantastic option for the 2024/25 season.
As it will only be a straight loan move, this would be a risk-free signing for Arsenal, and in Neto, they will get a hugely experienced player to help them when needed.
If there are no changes in the Garcia deal, we expect Neto to be a new Arsenal player before the window shuts at 11:00 pm on Friday night.
