Real Madrid will play the newly renamed ‘Intercontinental Cup’ in December of this year, which has changed place with the former Club World Cup. It will require a trip to the Middle East in an already packed calendar for Los Blancos.
The Club World Cup has become a fresh tournament involving 32 teams from across the world that Real Madrid will play in June and July next year, after the end of the Champions League, with all of the participants from Europe already qualified.
The competition that the Club World Cup was formerly known as, consisting of the champions of all the continental competitions, will take place in Doha, Qatar, report Marca. The final, which Real Madrid are already qualified for, will take place on the 18th of December, sandwiched just before the final La Liga game of the year for Real Madrid against Sevilla at home.
The competition begins on the 22nd of September, and will take place away from Qatar, while the quarter and semi-finals will take place in Qatar before Los Blancos enter the competition. Currently, Auckland City, Pachuca, Al-Ain and Al-Ahly, but the Copa Libertadores winner still to be decided.
