'Really weird' - David Edgar stunned as Beale makes revelation over 2023 Rangers sale

David Edgar is stunned that Michael Beale has revealed that he wanted Fashion Sakala to stay at Rangers in the summer of 2023.

A clip of the former Gers boss has emerged on X where he stayed he would’ve rather had the Zambia international for the 2023/24 campaign.

However, after 24 goals in 91 appearances for the Ibrox outfit, the wide attacker left to join Saudi Arabian side Al-Fayha.

Via X, the Heart and Hand podcast host wrote: “He banned Sakala from the training ground and wouldn’t let him say goodbye to his team-mates.

“A really weird way of showing him he wanted him to stay.”

Rangers fans have got more reasons to not like Michael Beale

Beale’s recent comments on wanting Sakala to stay at Ibrox, despite his actions suggesting otherwise, encapsulate his tenure at the club, which many fans view with disdain.

His management was marked by poor results, lacklustre football and a failure to take responsibility for his decisions, instead often deflecting blame towards the club’s infrastructure or the squad’s quality.

His claim of wanting Sakala, whom he seemed to want to be banned from the training ground, exemplifies a disconnect between his words and actions, further fueling the narrative of him attempting to whitewash his image post-departure.

Rangers fans, who endured a season of frustration under his leadership, remember the lack of fight, the poor signings, and the overall decline in performance.

Beale’s efforts to revise his legacy are met with scepticism, as supporters recall his time as one of tactical stagnation and a refusal to acknowledge his own shortcomings, making him one of the most unpopular ex-managers in recent memory.

The club have the right man in charge currently and hopefully, the board backs him.

In other Rangers news, a player linked with an Ibrox transfer is set to jet out in order to complete his permanent move.
