Report: Chelsea maintain interest in Victor Osimhen despite Napoli’s loan deal with Galatasaray

Chelsea remain determined to bring Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen to Stamford Bridge, despite his recent season-long loan move from Napoli to Galatasaray, Soccernet.ng reports.

However, any potential transfer is unlikely to materialise before January, as the Nigerian star is currently thriving in Istanbul with the Yellow-Reds.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, in his latest Daily Briefing, confirmed that no immediate developments are expected, with Chelsea having missed out on signing Osimhen during the summer window.

Osimhen was at the centre of a transfer tug-of-war during the 2024 summer window, but the striker ultimately secured a surprise move to Turkey.

Despite Chelsea’s recent progress, particularly with Nicolas Jackson impressing in attack, the London club remains intent on pursuing Osimhen as a key target.

Though Chelsea’s interest is strong, there has been no formal contact between the club and Osimhen’s representatives.

Romano explained, “Nothing is happening now regarding Osimhen. Chelsea’s interest remains, and they still admire the player, but there are no ongoing negotiations. It would also be disrespectful to Galatasaray, who invested significantly to secure him on loan.”

Osimhen has expressed his Premier League ambitions in the past, citing his desire to follow in the footsteps of his football idol, Didier Drogba.

The Chelsea faithful may need to wait patiently, but the striker’s long-term aspirations to play in England suggest that a move to Stamford Bridge could still be on the horizon.
