Chelsea are closely monitoring Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface as a potential transfer target for next summer.
Report indicates that the Premier League club have identified the forward as a top priority for the striker position.
According to Teamtalk, the Blues are prepared to make Boniface their number one target as they look to strengthen their attacking options.
The Nigerian attacker helped Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen side win the German Bundesliga last season.
His individual performances were impressive for Leverkusen as the 23-year-old attacker scored 14 goals in the league in just 23 appearances.
Despite the strong performances from Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson, manager Enzo Maresca is still eager to enhance the team’s attacking lineup.
Chelsea had previously attempted to sign Victor Osimhen from Napoli in the summer transfer window but were unsuccessful, leaving a gap for a natural No. 9 in the squad.
Jackson has scored four goals in five Premier League games so far this season but the Blues still want another attacking option to add depth and quality to the squad.
Chelsea have spent a lot of money on new signings in recent transfer windows but it is still a mystery how they have not been able to sign a top class centre-forward.
Victor Boniface has the talent to lead the Chelsea attack
Boniface, who has thrived at Leverkusen over the past 14 months, could be a key candidate to fill Chelsea’s need for a striker.
The former Union Saint-Gilloise forward is under contract with Bayer Leverkusen until 2028.
However, he is not the only option Chelsea are considering for the striker position.
The club is still monitoring other targets, including Victor Osimhen, Benjamin Sesko, and Viktor Gyökeres.
Addition of a new striker to the attack would take the team to the next level.
With players like Jadon Sancho, Pedro Neto, Joao Felix and Cole Palmer supporting the attacker, they can form the best attack in the league.
