Liverpool have have discussed signing Marc Guehi
Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi has been targetted by Newcastle for most of the summer transfer window.
However, according to TEAMtalk, Liverpool could be about to hijack the deal as they’ve discussed signing him in recent days.
Newcastle have already had multiple bids knocked back for the England international with Palace demanding around £70m for their prized asset.
It remains to be seen if The Reds are willing to offer such a sizable amount, especially considering the need for a number six.
Liverpool must prioritise a defensive midfielder
The links to Guehi are rather surprising as it’s clear the number six role needs to be addressed first and foremost.
Liverpool failed in an attempt to sign Martin Zubimendi earlier this month, so surely Arne Slot is eager to find a suitable alternative.
Perhaps they should test the waters for Palace’s promising Adam Wharton, who is of a similar profile to Zubimendi.
A telling week lies ahead for the Merseysiders.
