Report: Tottenham are really pushing to sign ‘brilliant’ forward who Ange Postecoglou thinks is perfect

At the very beginning of the summer, there were murmurs in north London that Tottenham Hotspur would finally look to replace Harry Kane in the coming months.

Ange Postecoglou coped admirably without Kane last season, quickly changing the narrative after Spurs’ fast start.

However, as the campaign went on, the lack of a recognised number nine did hinder Tottenham, a season that ended with a whimper.

But with the club in a strong financial position this summer, there was even talk of Tottenham signing Alexander Isak from Newcastle United, a sensationally ambitious move.

Of course, Newcastle quickly made interested clubs aware that would not be happening – Isak was going nowhere.

Ever since, Spurs have seldom been linked with a serious interest in a striker, until recently reports emerged about their admiration for Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke.

Tottenham want Solanke, and the Englishman might finally be the man to replace Kane, even if he does have a differing skill set.

And with that in mind, The Telegraph have now shared a further update on Spurs’ Solanke pursuit.

Tottenham have Son Heung-min plan if they can sign Dominic Solanke

According to the report mentioned, Tottenham are now attempting to make progress with a move for Solanke.

Brilliant’ Solanke has a buy-out clause in his Bournemouth contract thought to be around £65m – one that Spurs could attempt to undercut.

Postecoglou has made it clear to the club that he wants to sign a new striker, and sees Solanke as a perfect fit for his style.

Therefore, Tottenham may attempt to agree a deal under the clause by offering Bournemouth favourable payment terms, perhaps offering more cash immediately.

The report explains that Postecoglou wants to return captain Son Heung-min back out to the left, which would only be possible by signing a recognised striker.

TBR Football recently shared that Richarlison wants to leave Tottenham – a move that would surely accelerate any deal for Solanke.

But regardless of the Brazilian’s future, it seems as if Spurs are happy to chase Solanke’s signature, a player who still possesses untapped potential at 26-years-old.

On his part, Solanke is said to be keen to try his hand at one of the Premier League’s top clubs again, having previously left Chelsea and Liverpool.
