Revealed: Liverpool could blow Celtic out of the water to sign teen sensation

Liverpool could blow Celtic out of the water in their race to sign Motherwell sensation Lennon Miller, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Celtic are now facing competition from top English clubs who can offer more money and higher wages.

Man United, Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Aston Villa scouts were all in attendance at the under-21s clash between Scotland and France, with Miller the focus of their attention.

Liverpool in particular have history with beating Celtic to the signings of young Scottish stars, having poached Ben Doak for a compensation fee of £600,000 in 2022 before he signed his first professional contract.

Miller, 18, has shone for Motherwell so far this season, and there is set to be a scramble for his signature come next summer’s transfer window.

His current contract at Fir Park is set to run until May 2026, but a summer move could allow the club to cash in on his signature.

Miller has enjoyed an excellent start to the season at Fir Park, as he has featured 18 times already and started all 11 of their league games so far.

As a result, he has attracted high-profile interest from across Europe, with clubs keeping a close eye on his progress and development.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on 14 November that Celtic are the current favourites to land a deal for the youngster.

However, interest from English clubs is said to have thrown a spanner in the works, with a number of clubs set to enter the race and put pressure on the Hoops.

Interest from English sides could allow Motherwell to drum up their asking price given the financial capabilities of the interested clubs.

As a result, both Celtic and Rangers are expected to fall behind in their interest unless they can convince the player to remain in Scotland.
