Ruben Amorim questions two Man Utd players over team news leaks as probe begins
Man Utd have launched an investigation.
Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has asked Amad Diallo and Alejandro Garnacho if they are responsible for team news leaks.
That’s according to The Sun, after United’s XI to face Manchester City on Sunday leaked online well ahead of the their line-up being announced.
United have reportedly decided to launch a probe to get to the bottom of what’s going on with Amad and Garnacho the first two players questioned.
Last week, Garnacho’s brother, Roberto, denied accusations on social media that he has been the source of several team news leaks which have been released before United’s fixtures.
Jose Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Erik ten Hag all had their team selections shared on social media before official confirmation and Amorim – who became United boss in November – now wants it to stop.
Amorim was quizzed about the team news leaks after he masterminded a 2-1 victory at Manchester City on Sunday – a match which saw Garnacho left out of the squad and Amad become the hero with a late winner.
‘I know that story, I think it is impossible to fix,’ Amorim said. ‘You have a lot of people in the club, the players talk with agents, it is not a good thing.’
Team news has leaked in the past when Garnacho has been left out, like he was in the 2-1 win over City.
But Amorim is satisfied neither Garnacho or Amad are directly involved in the leaking of team news after holding conversations with both players.
Amad produced a brilliant performance on Sunday, winning his side a late penalty before later slotting home a 90th-minute winner at the Etihad.
‘He can play different positions, he is very humble,’ Amorim said about Amad after the Manchester derby triumph.
‘We have to be very careful with Amad because sometimes in our club we put young players in a special place. Let’s stay calm with Amad.’
Meanwhile, Roy Keane has some feelings of ‘worry’ about Amad and hopes he ‘stays grounded’ after his heroics against Pep Guardiola’s side.
