Sam Allardyce has defended Farhad Moshiri for giving the Everton ownership “his best shot” as excitement builds over the transition of power to The Friedkin Group.

The former Toffees boss however admits “far too much has been wasted” in terms of financial investment from Moshiri down the years, as the club look to stay afloat for another year.

Allardyce points out how particularly integral this is with the imminent move to Bramley-Moore Dock.

Speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast [7 November, 06:11], Allardyce said: “They just need the new owner now. I’m a big Moshiri fan from experience with him.

“He’s put a lot of money in, and sadly far too much of it has been wasted, but he gave it his best shot. Now Everton have to make sure they stay in the Premier League to move into their new stadium.

“And [the stadium] is probably the club’s best selling point now with the revenue that would generate.”

Everton must do enough on the pitch while takeover goes through

Everton have struggled on the precipice for too long considering the size, history and previous ambition of the club.

With their move to their alluring new waterfront arena coming in just a matter of months, the idea of baptising it with Championship football is unthinkable.

The Friedkin Group are ironing out all the necessary obstacles in order for the takeover to go through as smoothly and efficiently as possible, as Moshiri hands over a gargantuan 94.1 percent controlling stake.

On the pitch, Sean Dyche remains confident his team can deliver and establish themselves in a similar manner to last season.

Next up is a visit to out-of-form West Ham United [9 November], whom they can overtake with victory at the London Stadium.
