Sean Dyche makes new Dan Freidkin admission after Everton takeover news

Sean Dyche is yet to speak with Dan Friedkin as the American’s takeover creeps closer at Everton.

Speaking to Sky Sports (18 October), Dyche was asked if the news of Friedkin’s impending arrival had lifted the mood at Goodison Park and said he’s yet to have direct contact with his potential new boss.

Friedkin’s takeover to become the new majority shareholder is yet to be ratified by the Premier League, and it remains to be seen what steps he will take regarding Dyche’s position as manager.

Dyche said: “Some of the noise changes because of the possibility of new owners, but we’ve got to correct it further on the pitch.

“I think everyone’s accepted the club is in a change-around period of its time now – It’s not been easy. The next steps we don’t know, because another takeover is looming.

“It seems like this one’s got more weight to it, but I don’t know – I haven’t spoken to them so I don’t know yet.”

Sean Dyche must build rapport with Dan Friedkin at Everton

A relationship between Dyche and Friedkin will surely be established if and when the American’s takeover is ratified and he’s finally given the keys to take charge at Goodison Park.

However, Dyche – who is out of contract in the summer of 2025 – would certainly be minded to get in Friedkin’s good books as soon as he can, particularly with the speculation over his immediate future.

Dan Friedkin’s intentions remain unclear when it comes to Sean Dyche’s managerial future at Everton

Friedkin hasn’t been shy to sack managers mid-season or make statement appointments upon arriving at a new club – see Jose Mourinho’s time at Roma for examples in both departments.

Mourinho is just one big name who’s already been mooted with becoming the first manager to occupy the dugouts at the new Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium [TBR Football, 12 October], with Maurizio Sarri another candidate [Fabrizio Romano, 26 September].

Regardless of what the future holds for Friedkin’s time in charge, Dyche’s day-to-day goal remains to keep the club in the top flight, and few other managers can emulate his ability to do that.

In other Everton news, a talkSPORT presenter has told the Toffees who they need to appoint as Dyche’s successor next summer.
