'Sell-on value' - Pundit tips Rangers to turn profits amid links to 'Talented' Liverpool player

Rangers now need to start looking at developing talent within their own academy and the youngsters they’ve already signed amid links to Liverpool’s Bobby Clark, says Derek Ferguson.

DaveOCKOP reported on 6 July that the teenage midfielder was in demand for a loan this season with the Light Blues having made their interest known.

And the Liverpool Echo’s Paul Gorst told RedmenTV on 7 August that both Rangers and Celtic were in the mix as well as “half the Championship” after RB Leipzig had a £6million bid rejected.

Ex-Ibrox midfielder Ferguson accepts the 19-year-old is a talented player but pointed towards the talent already present in Glasgow to be built up to sell on at a profit instead.

He exclusively told Ibrox News: “We seem to get linked with a few of these guys at Liverpool since Steven Gerrard was manager.

“I don’t know too much about the boy, obviously he’s a talented player.

“But I think sometimes we’ve got to look at our own academy. We’ve got enough talent here.

“[And] we’re starting to get the youngsters in where we can hopefully make them better with that sell-on value.”

Philippe Clement wants Anfield talent at Rangers?

Philippe Clement has already brought in a host of youngsters this summer and has since been targeting experienced signings later in the window.

In midfield he has the youthful pair of Mohamed Diomande and ex-Aberdeen talent Connor Barron so seemingly would benefit more from a veteran presence.

It looks like it would be a tough race to win for Clark anyway given how many clubs want him, but with Chelsea wonderkid Leo Castledine also targeted [Football Scotland, 7 August] amid competition from the Dons there does still appear to be a focus on highly-rated Premier League talents if they are being lined up for temporary moves.
