Sky Sports pundit grills Kris Boyd live on air ahead of Kilmarnock v Rangers

Kris Boyd was grilled live on Sky Sports by Clinton Morrison ahead of Rangers’ clash with Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Sunday (20 October).

The former striker starred for both clubs during his playing days, and while he will be remembered for his performances in Light Blue, he was unable to share his predictions before the Scottish Premiership clash.

History would suggest Rugby Park could be the home of a thriller on Sunday afternoon, with the Killie capable of an upset, but a win for Philippe Clement’s men could be huge for the title race.

Speaking via Sky Sports on Saturday (19 October, 1:34pm), Clinton Morrison said: “I like you a lot, we’re good friends. But who do you want to win that game tomorrow? You played for both clubs so it’s a hard one.

In response, Boyd said: “I grew up a Rangers fan. Kilmarnock gave me an opportunity, so who do you think?”

Rangers v Kilmarnock crucial in Scottish Premiership title race

While Boyd started and ended his senior career at Kilmarnock, there is absolutely no doubt that he wants the Gers to claim all three points at Rugby Park on Sunday.

Clement’s side are six points behind Celtic and Aberdeen, and after the two sides drew 2-2 on Saturday 19 October, the Gers have a brilliant chance to capitalise against struggling opposition.

The Killie only have six points to their name after seven matches, which sees them floating two spots above the bottom of the table, only bettering Hearts and Hibernian.

Rangers have won the last three meetings – 4-1, 2-1 and 3-1 – and Clement will be hoping for a similar result when they travel to Rugby Park in this key Scottish Premiership clash.

Of course, the true test for the Gers will come when they face both Celtic and Aberdeen, but defeating Kilmarnock will be a good first step towards the top of the league table.

In other Rangers news, a forward has confirmed his “dream” to return to Ibrox after leaving in 2021.
