Everton ace Jarrad Branthwaite is set to return to Finch Farm after not travelling with the England squad to face Greece, according to Sky Sports.
The news outlet reported this via their official X account on 13 November after the defender was called up by Lee Carsley because multiple members of the squad dropped out. The defender is now the ninth to leave the Three Lions’ camp.
Branthwaite has been training separately for the last two days after picking up a knock against West Ham and will return to Merseyside to try and recover.
Everton will be disappointed with the Jarrad Branthwaite news
One of Everton’s main problem areas this season has been their defence. While James Tarkowski and Michael Keane have both put in decent shifts for the Toffees, Sean Dyche will no doubt be itching to get Branthwaite back into his team on a regular basis.
He has of course made a couple of appearances this season but he’s been hit with something of an injury crisis since the start of the term and the fact he’s dropped out of England’s squad can’t be a good sign.
While some fans may think this is the best thing for the youngster, the fact he’s returning to Finch Farm could well mean that his injury is more serious than first thought which would be a major blow for Dyche.
Indeed, having time off to recover could well help progress his healing process at a faster rate but in reality, it’s probably bad news for the Toffees.
Everton are currently 16th in the Premier League table and are just three points away from the drop zone.
Branthwaite needs to recover ASAP otherwise the Merseyside outfit could find themselves in deep trouble.
In other Everton news, a journalist has shared his verdict on whether Sean Dyche will be sacked this season.
